EXILE CONSCIOUSNESS

Dear Brethren

We all are aware that our community is at the crossroads of history, and most of us are also aware that this is not the first time but eighth one in the annals of history where history is trying to revisit us.

Yes! My brothers and sisters! I am referring to “Forcible Return of Kashmiri Pandits.”

This would be the eighth time now we will be committing the same blunder.. The past blunders have in these 700 years reduced us from 100 percent to meager 5 percent, but the same blunder if committed this time round will surely annihilate our community, and I am sure my apprehensions will be seconded by many concerned souls of my community.
Sinister plans are taking shape and some parts of which can be already seen executed by the vested interests. Lures of money, jobs, accommodation are being worked out in the highest echelons of power and the same is being tried to sell to the members of the community, through touts and men of dubious intentions. I am aghast to see some of my brethren falling in their trap and making mind to repeat the same blunder.

We never say, we are not going to return. We are longing to go back to our motherland, we are longing to bow and prostate on the soil which since times immemorial has stood for all the values and tradition which we stand for. The land of sages and seers whose significance has been felt by the distant lands and who has given value to life and spirituality…. We long to go back!!

But the billion dollar question here “Is our return going to bring back the pristine glory of our Motherland? Is our return going to safeguard the values and the traditions for which our community stands? Is it going to ameliorate the innumerable tortures and fatal wounds inflicted on the basic fabric of our community or at least any acknowledgements made to them by the perpetrators of heinous crimes against my community?

If yes, then we should return, but if No, we should rethink.

Our return to the motherland at this point of time is going to nullify the ethnic cleansing and bring to vain the mass exodus of our community in 1989-90. Kashmiri Pandits migrated not just to save their lives, as the general perception held, but we migrated under a bigger sinister ploy for the Islamisation of the valley. We were forced to migrate because we were the biggest hurdle, being the aborigines of the land our presence was always felt as the stumbling block for the achievement of the desired goals by the Islamic fundamentalists.

We were pushed to wall, and with the start of selective killings of our community members, a message was circulated to us. The message was “ Convert! Face Persecution! Or Flee!... Raliv! Galiv! Ya Chaliv!... I am sure my brethren remember this!.... I need not go deeper into the slogans raised during those times since I know my brethren vividly remember these slogans.

So, being pushed to wall, kashmiri pandits preferred to “flee!” and this act of the community saved another mass conversion and mass persecution and annihilation.

As already said above, this is the eighth time when history is revisiting us, this is the eighth time when history is trying hard to repeat itself, and this will be the eighth time when the souls of this hapless community will be bowing to the external pressures. Alas! How helpless we are.

Yee the brethren of immortal bliss, if you ask me, I would say this would be the first opportunity when we can stop history revisiting us, this would be the first opportunity when we can defeat the nefarious designs of all those external forces who are hell bent to put this community back in the same turmoil, mental and physical agony. This will be the first opportunity, when we can stand upright and say NAY! We will not succumb! We will not trade the pride and future of our community just for the selfish self! We this time around are going to stand tall against all the forces both within and outside and Cry aloud! Enough is Enough! AND ROAR THE CHANTS OF

JAI PANUN KASHMIR!                  JAI PANUN KASHMIR!
